Profile

HOT AIR BALLOON - 'The Heyday Balloonists' magazine that launched the first 'Transatlantic' Balloon Race Challenge.

Published in the 80's, HOT AIR BALLOON was the first magazine of its kind to go on public sale. It was well received, and widely read in many countries. Unfortunately, due to a 'dastardly deed', production ceased - only six editions were published. However, it transpires, that due to content and time frame, it now has a place in the history of ballooning - and is one of the rarest ballooning magazines, in the World.

Writers for this colourful magazine included celebrities such as Per Lindstrand and Don Cameron. Also featured, are Sir Richard Branson, and the late Malcolm Forbes at Balleroy '89, with his unique collection of 'Special-Shape' balloons.

Copies of HOT AIR BALLOON are held by: The British Balloon & Airship Club Museum & Library, the British CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), the 'Forbes' Magazine Archives in New York, and collectors.
